Onward Physiotherapy
Based in a local dance studio, Onward Physiotherapy provides personalised, hands-on care to help you move better, feel stronger, and step confidently into your best self.

Dance Physiotherapy
We provide physio tailored specifically for dancers. Whether you need help with pain relief, improving your performance, safely getting back to training, or preventing injuries, we’re here for you. We work with all dance styles and can also do pre-pointe assessments to make sure you’re ready to take that next step.

TMD / TMJ Physiotherapy
We offer physio for the jaw, also called the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). If you’re dealing with jaw pain, tight chewing muscles, clicking, locking, trouble opening your mouth, or even headaches, we can help. Did you know TMJ problems are the most common cause of facial pain that’s not related to teeth, and the second most reported musculoskeletal issue after chronic low back pain?

Casting
Certain orthopaedic injuries like fractures, serious sprains, or joint problems, may need a cast to keep the area still and help it heal properly. We’ll just need a referral from your GP or orthopaedic specialist to get started.

Dry Needling
Dry needling uses very fine, single-use needles inserted into tight spots in your muscles called trigger points. This can help relieve muscle tension and reduce discomfort. Unlike acupuncture, which follows specific pathways called meridians, dry needling targets muscles based on clinical assessment.

Running Biomechanical Assessments
We can help you recover from running injuries, prevent new ones, and boost your running performance. Our approach includes practical running retraining, tailored exercises, and advice on the right footwear to keep you moving strong.

Physiotherapy
Physio helps you get moving, feeling better, and living well. Through physical assessment, hands-on treatment, education, and guided exercises, physiotherapy supports people of all ages and abilities whether you’re recovering from an injury or surgery, managing a long-term condition, or wanting to improve your performance and prevent future injuries.

About Us
Hi, I’m Joshua Onden-Lim, a physiotherapist with almost 10 years of experience and a genuine love for helping people step into their best self. I studied at the University of Sydney and started my career in public hospitals across Dubbo, Camden, and Campbelltown. While I learned a lot in those early years, it was in private practice that I found my stride, connecting with people one-on-one and helping them work toward goals that really matter to them.
I take a thoughtful, personalised approach to treatment, blending clinical reasoning with hands-on care, movement, and clear communication. I have a particular interest in treating dance injuries and TMD (jaw pain), and I enjoy supporting people through both performance and everyday challenges.
We have access to state-of-the-art facilities at IMI Dance Studio and Gym Physix to support your care.
We really get what dancers need and tailor our treatment accordingly.
With nearly a decade of experience, we’ve treated everything from everyday aches to more complex injuries.
We listen first - making sure every treatment fits your goals, your body, and your lifestyle.
People tell us our warm, friendly approach makes them feel heard, supported, and confident.
Our team brings together experience from both public hospitals and private practice, so you get the best of both worlds.
We’re passionate about helping you move better whether you’re a performer, athlete, or just want to feel good in your body.
You’ll get clear, honest communication every step of the way, so you always know what’s going on and why.
We’re committed to ongoing learning and staying up-to-date with the latest physiotherapy research and techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a physiotherapist?
A physiotherapist is a university-trained healthcare professional who helps people recover from injury, manage pain, and improve movement. We use a combination of hands-on treatment, exercise therapy, and education to support your body’s function, whether you’re healing from surgery, dealing with a long-term condition, or just want to move better in daily life.
Physiotherapists are trained in the musculoskeletal system and work with people of all ages and activity levels. At Onward Physiotherapy, we take the time to understand your goals and tailor your treatment plan to what matters most to you.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral needed – you can book straight in! Physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers in Australia, which means you don’t need to see a GP first.
However, if you’re planning to claim through Medicare (like with a Chronic Disease Management plan), you’ll need a referral from your GP for that.
Can I claim physiotherapy through Medicare?
Yes, in some cases! If you have a chronic health condition, your GP might refer you under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, formerly called an EPC plan. This gives you up to five Medicare-subsidised visits to allied health providers each calendar year, including physiotherapy.
You’ll need a referral from your GP, and the current Medicare rebate is $60.35 per session. After each appointment, you simply pay the full fee, and we can help you claim your rebate on the spot.
Can I use my private health insurance for physio?
Yes! Most private health insurance policies with extras cover include physiotherapy. The amount you can claim back depends on your fund and your level of cover but we can swipe your card on the spot so you only pay the gap.
Can I get physiotherapy here under WorkCover or CTP?
Can I get physiotherapy here under NDIS or DVA?
What do I need to do before my initial consultation?
To help us get the most out of your session:
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area we’re treating. For example, a loose-fitting shirt or singlet top helps for neck and shoulder injuries. Also, loose-fitting pants or shorts helps for injuries along the leg.
- Bring any scans, reports, or referrals you may have from your doctor or specialist.
- If you have private health insurance, bring your card or have your fund’s app ready so we can process your rebate on the spot.
If you’re unsure about anything, feel free to contact us before your appointment- we’re happy to help.
Where do we find you?
You’ll find us in Studio D within IMI Entertainment, located at 9 East Street, Lidcombe NSW 2141. There’s plenty of free parking both on-site and along the street, so getting here is easy.
Can a physio put a cast on?
No more waiting for countless hours at the Emergency Department.
If your injury is less than 10–14 days old, we may apply a plaster backslab first. This is because swelling is common early on, and a full cast might become too loose or too tight as swelling changes, which can cause complications.
After the swelling has settled (around 10–14 days), we can discuss switching to a synthetic (fibreglass) cast, which is lighter and stronger. We may also be able to provide waterproof materials, provided you don’t have any open wounds near the fracture.
Your doctor will advise how long you’ll need to keep the cast on and may arrange follow-up scans to monitor healing.
When it’s time to remove the cast, we’ll use a special cast saw—it might look intimidating, but it only cuts the cast, not your skin. After removal, we’ll guide your recovery by helping you regain movement, strength, and control.
